Kauhale Kai has now spent over 4 years traveling the world . This year we passed 50,000 ocean miles, a distance of almost twice around the center of the earth! She has offered us a million small moments of adventure, laughter, excitement and satisfaction.

Each person who has spent time with us aboard has been a big part of that experience. I once said, "If I ever make it big I'm going to buy a big boat and invite all my friends to come and play with me." Well, play we have. Thank you....all of you who have been a part of this experience. The journey continues!!

Naples

We discovered the lost city of Pompei that was destroyed (covered in ash) by the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 AD. Pretty amazing and very hot!

Pina Coladas

I have to admit, Keiki Kai makes the best Pina Coladas ever...Fresh nutmeg and all...

Elba

This island was home to Napoleon during his time in exile. We took a tour of his lavish home, learned that he was quite the academic and at one time general to the French army. We had planned to go around the point, find a deserted beach and snorkel for the afternoon, but decided to cut our time in the water short after diving in to find tons of jellyfish swimming along the ocean's surface.

Ischia

We arrived in Ischa after 24 hours at sea to finally meet up with Keiki Kai and our good friends on board. This was another picturesque anchorage just below the old castle in a beautiful bay with crystal blue water. It was time to finally get out the water toys. We spent our days wake boarding, jet skiing, swimming, eating gelato and catching up over cocktails. The third day we moved to the other side of the island and went to the local hot spring baths that were quite interesting.

Portofino

We dropped anchor just outside the fairytale city of Portofino and were immediately smitten with its colorful buildings, bright shutters, and quaint charm. The girls walked to the end of the road and found a hiking path featuring wild boar and bobcats. Orion and Larry had walked out to the lighthouse and we met up again for dinner with our fabulous crew. We were swooned by an Italian singer, suckered into buying roses from an 8 year old salesman, and Wendy convinced the waiter to send her home with the hand painted vase that sat atop our table.
